SUM Hospital was set up in 2003 to offer quality health services in the State. Subsequently, IMS came up with MBBS programme since the academic session 2007-08. SUM Hospital, the state-of-the-art modern hospital, has 750 beds, 150 cabins with multi-speciality facilities like Dialysis, CT scan, MRI along with ICU, ICCU, NICU, PICU and Cathlab.

The MBBS and MD Programmes are approved by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India and Medical Council of India (MCI). IMS & SUM Hospital has the following well equipped departments as enlisted below:
Non-Clinical Departments – Anatomy, Bio-chemistry, and Physiology.
Para-Clinical Departments – Preventive & Social Medicine, Pathology, Micro-Biology, Forensic Medicine, Pharmacology
Clinical Departments – Medicine, Paediatrics, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Radiology, Chest and TB, Psychiatry, Skin and VD and Anesthesiology.
