Department of Surgery and the allied specialized branches carry out a wide variety of surgical work. It includes general surgery of very high order including correction of complex congenital anomalies, operations for portal hypertension, gastrointestinal malignancies, vascular and micro vascular surgery, plastic surgery, spinal and cranial surgery. Keyhole surgery and diagnostic laparoscopy by competent laparoscopy surgeons. A well planned and fully equipped experimental animal operation theatre provides facilities for surgical research, experimental work and hands on training to under graduate students on performing common surgical procedures on animals. Continuing medical education is an essential academic aspect of the professional activities of the department.
