The Department of Humanities at Siksha O Anusandhan University engages in teaching across language, culture and technology. Our scope is international, our approach interdisciplinary. We work at the intersections of communications, compositions, literature, methodology, visual studies, technical communication and corporate communication. Our areas of emphasis include skill development of undergraduate and post-graduate students, awareness-raising exercises, global trends and diversity of culture. In creating a learning ambience, students and faculty work to cultivate the whole human being. We help students develop the communicative, analytic and cultural insight to sustain themselves in all aspects of their personal and professional life. The department consistently works on innovative ways of training, keeping in focus the varied sensibility of the students. Further, the department implements valuable inputs from the industry e.g. the Campus-Connect Programme by Infosys. In the field of research, seven scholars have registered for their Ph.D. degree and are working on the contemporary trends of English language in academics and corporate houses.

The department of Humanities, has several segments like English for Communication, Human Resource Management, Organizational Behaviour and Economics. It has been imperative throughput the world to include components of soft skills, economics and organizational studies in engineering programmes. This gives human face and values to use of engineering and technology.

FEATURES

1. The faculty members are engaged in research and their papers have been published in national and international journals of repute. They have also authored books, which have been widely circulated and acclaimed.
2. Two digital communication practice laboratories have been setup which is one of its kind in India. The laboratory is equipped with DVD camcorders and digital consoles for 160 students for language training, the art of presentation. Sound systems and motorized video matrix screens are there for personality and soft skills development. The laboratories have visitors from other technical institutions, companies like Infosys, TCS etc. who appreciated the corporate ambience of the laboratory.
3. Different activities are conducted through various modern equipments such as OHP, PA System, Computer, LCD multimedia projectors.
4. The students are trained in four skills of communication; listening, speaking, reading and writing.
