Electronics & Communication along with computer engineering has made this world flat. The importance of the subject is more evident today in the evolution of consumer and industrial electronics that has undergone a sea-change. The undergraduate programme in the department has been re-accredited by National Board of Accreditation (AICTE).
Being one of the largest departments of the institute, it has 34 well-qualified faculty on its roll.
The department offers undergraduate programme in Electronics & Communication Engineering and Postgraudate programme in Telecommuniction System Engineering. The department is pursuing research in the area of video object detection and tracking visual surveillance, Image processing and analysis, Adaptive signal processing, Biomedical signal and image processing, Channel equalization, Mobile computing and smart antenna systems and VLSI design. Quite a few candidates are pursuing their Ph.D. in this department.

7. VLSI Laboratory.
The analog and digital electronics circuit laboratories are well equipped with circuit simulation packages like Multisim, Tanner tools and P-Spice etc. The signal processing laboratories have advanced softwares like Matlab (version 7.1) with toolboxes for image processing, fuzzy logic, genetic algorithm and signal processing.
The microprocessor and microcontroller laboratory houses hardware and softwares like Keil PK 51, Keil MCB 2919-ED, Reil MCBST M32E-ED, Keiliu MDK-ARM. The VLSI laboratory has 30 floating license of Complete Tanner Tools Pro. to facilitate VLSI design.

Basic Electronics Laboratory
The Basic Electronics Laboratory provides basic hands-on-training at the Undergraduate level. This laboratory introduces students to identify and learn basic characteristics of devices like diodes, BJTs, FETs, OPAMPs and Digital gates. Principal instruments are CROs, Function Generators and Regulated Power Supply.
Analog Electronic Circuits Laboratory
This lab takes care of the understanding of various electronic circuits taught at the 3rd semester level. Stress is given for design and implementation of the circuits both by hardware using simulation softwares like MultiSim and P-Spice.
Digital Electronic Circuits Laboratory
This lab takes care of the understanding of various digital electronic circuits taught at the 4th semester level. Stress is given for design and implementation of the circuits in hardware as well as using simulation languages like Verilog and VHDL. Principal equipments of the laboratory are CROs, Function Generators, Regulated Power Supply, Digital Multimeter etc.
Communication Engineering Laboratory
This lab takes care of the understanding and hands on training of various analog and digital communication techniques. It provides ample opportunities for a student to understand various nuances of analog and digital communication. The equipments like DSOs, CROs, Function Generators and Communication Trainer Kits are available in this laboratory.
Communication System Laboratory
This lab takes care of the understanding and hands on training of various analog and digital communication systems like Microwave, Optical and Satellite communication systems. It provides opportunities to a student to understand various aspects of the complex and advanced communication systems. The equipments available in this lab are Microwave Benches, Fiber Optics Trainers, Satellite Trainer, Spectrum Analyzer and TV Trainer kits.
Digital Signal Processing Laboratory
This laboratory takes care of the understanding and hands on training of various signal processing techniques and algorithms. It provides opportunities for a student to understand various aspects of the many signal processing techniques. Students are encouraged to develop algorithms and implement them both in MATLAB and DSP Processors. This laboratory is also used by both B.Tech. and M.Tech. students. In addition to the above, this laboratory also facilitates students who want to do minor and major projects in the area of Signal Processing. The major equipments in this lab are Personal Computers, MATLAB 7.0.1, TMS 6713 DSP Processors with Code Composer Studio.
