Electronics & Instrumentation Electronics
To meet the growing and long standing demands for industrial automation and control, the department started an undergraduate programme. Subsequently, M.Tech. programme in VLSI and Embedded System was introduced. The undergraduate programme has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (AICTE).
The Department has an excellent Instrumentation and Process Control Laboratory, Sensor & Signal Laboratory, Measurement Laboratory, VLSI Design and Circuit Simulation Laboratory. The laboratories are well-equipped with adequate number of hardwares, trainer kits, oscilloscopes and function generators to give a hands-on-training on Industrial automation. The VLSI Laboratory is equipped with software like Aldec (version 7.1), Tanner for Layout Design, for FPGA implementation it has Boards with Spatern-2 & Spatern-3E. The circuit simulation is done with software like Multisim, Commsim, Pspice, Circuit Simulator and Lab View.
It uses the powerful VLSI software SILVACO T CAD software for virtual fabrication.
Latest version software like KEIL for embedded system with ARM-7 processor has been added to its kit. Department is taking step for setting up a semiconductor device fabrication laboratory. This will facilitate UG, PG and research student activities. It will be a unique laboratory in this region.
The engineering programmes like Applied Electronics & Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Control Engineering have wide application in industry. It has application in medicine, surgery, exploration into space and are in great demand both in core sector and IT industries.
The importance of AE&I & ICE is well established in the precision manufacturing process today. Instrumentation and Systems Automation Society in the US is formed to assess the efficacy of instruments for observation, control and measurement of industrial processes.
