MDR has an advisory committee with some faculty members as members of the committee. In addition to advice on various matters, the committee assists MDR in implementing major initiatives. The activities undertaken at MDR are spread across its Technical, Administrative and Accounts sections.

The Technical Section is primarily concerned with technical management of sponsored and consultancy projects, industrial liaising and technology transfers, patenting / IPR management, and MoU / Agreements with industries and other external agencies. Preparation of reports of the R&D activities at the University, participation in exhibitions, bringing out periodic R&D newsletters, R&D website management, office automation for various activities including accounts and administration, conducting / organising workshops / seminar etc, are some of the other activities taken up by this section.

The Administrative Section is responsible for the recruitment and administration of all project staff working on funded projects. It includes recruitment related activities, salary, accommodation and administration.

The Accounts Section oversees all the financial aspects of funded sponsored and consultancy projects, and also the overall MDR accounts. Project finance management include interfacing with funding agencies / clients regarding fund receipts / expenditure and management and setting up effective, efficient and optimal procedures for expenditure of funds on projects.

INFORMATION MANAGEMENT CELL

The University has recently established an Information Management Cell (IMC), currently housed at MDR. The main objective of IMC is to assist performance evaluation and internal decision-making through collection of appropriate information and quantitative data, and trend analysis. IMC also facilitates projection of information to the various external users: alumni, government, industry, etc.

The principal functions of the IMC are to conceptualize, implement, and maintain an Information Management System for capturing the key institute-wide data. It also manages the editorial work and publication of the Institute's R&D Newsletter UPDATE, and the R&D brochure.
